The List: Adventures in Living

You may or may not have noticed a little change up there in my blog header... I have a new link to a new feature on this site: The List.  If you're a regular blog reader or blogger yourself, you've likely seen and heard about things like 101 in 1001 - the idea is to do a set number of stretchy tasks in a certain amount of time.  I love learning new things and experiencing new adventures, so I love the idea.

A couple weeks ago, I sat down to try to figure out what my 101 in 1001 might be, but as I worked on it, some tasks felt a bit forced, and some of the things I want to do might be hard to make happen in 1001 days!!!  So I adjusted course, and instead worked on a "Life List", something more akin to a bucket list, I suppose, minus the icky-sounding bucket part.

Everything on my life list are things I want to do or try.  Some of the things are on there just because I've never done them before - some are easy, some...like climbing Mt Kilmanjaro... are a bit pie-in-the sky.  But you never know!  As I complete an item, I'll post about it and link to the post on my LIST page.

So check out my list HERE!  What have you already done that's on my list??  Was it fun - would you do it again?  What's your #1 item on your Life List?

Don't rule out Mt. Kilimanjaro! I climbed it this summer and it's totally doable! Plus, you can cross that and the African safari off your list in one trip :)

Love the idea of a list. I may be off to make one of those myself :) If you ever want to try Ethiopian food at Demera in my hood let me know. Oh and Hot Doug's. That's been on my food list for awhile! You definitely have to go to Table 52 for the dessert alone! From this comment I think I might be hungry or too focused on Chicago restaurants...

I love this idea! I may have to do one too.

p.s. re: food trucks...come to Portland, OR! We are having a crazy food truck revolution here, and everything is deeeelicious. :)

That's a great list! As expected, I've never done any of the sports or spectator sports on your list, haha. I would, however, highly recommend an African safari - definitely the trip of a lifetime! You could also camp in a tent (and climb Kilimanjaro!) and kill three birds with one stone :)

PS: as for the Bikram class, I go to hot yoga (Vinyasa) at Chicago School of Hot Yoga on Lincoln. The candlelight classes are the BEST.

I LOVE this idea (and your list!!) Having turned 30 this year, there are so many things I realized that I want/need to do, but I've never put it down in writing... so there's nothing to check off. Thanks for inspiring me to put together my own List!

LOVE IT! What a great idea. I like how you organized with sub-heads. I will have to shamelessly steal the concept one of these days.

I learned how to play poker from a friend a few years ago. I love poker. I'll teach you if I'm ever in Chicago - maybe if That Wife has her Chicago meet-up in December.

Also, one of my friends recently ate at Topolabambo and she said it's overrated.

Ice skating is so fun too! Just wear some padded snowpants and then you won't be afraid if you fall.

I also think this is a great idea. I want to try it. Maybe in paper form since Forty20Four is an us blog. I love Austrailia. Why not see Carmen at the Sydney Opera house. it was one of the best things I ever did but we say Aida. I also highly recommend making your own ice cream. :)
