The Missing Piece...

... of decor.

You probably thought this was going to be some sort of profound, navel-gazing Pulitzer piece of literature? No? Sigh, you are definitely a regular reader o' mine and know better.  :)  I just need help decorating my bedroom!

Firstly, Room, meet my readers...

...And Readers, meet my room!

If you look carefully, you can see the drawing board on which I draw all my maps - I wasn't kidding about being a handdrawn artist...  It's a wonder I can even get this computer to turn on!

A little messy, but that's ok.

I am not big on clutter or tchotchkes, but I do have a few items that I really love...

My nesting set of Soviet leaders that my mom bought for me because she is awesome - I find them endlessly hilarious.

If you are new to my blog, you may not know I love me some Dia de los Muertos. You might think they are creepy, I find them beautiful... and a teeny bit creepy, but don't tell THEM, or they'll eat my brains while I'm sleeping.

Right next to my statuettes, you see a music box that my parents gave to me when I was little - I've kept it all these years because I am sentimental like that.

This is a sacred heart diorama that my sister gave to me, and I love it.

Clearly, I'm from Texas.

These are two East European miniatures that I picked up while visiting friends in Seattle.

I really love my Tiffany lamp...

...and my Crate and Barrel duvet (don't judge me for buying from a chain - I can't be indie cool all of the time... or ever.  I am a true nerd.) :)

So, I love my room - it's my favorite room in my apartment.  HOWEVER, I need to put something on the wall behind my bed.  I've narrowed down my options to three:

Choice A) A canvas wrap of a photo from my Sistamoon this summer

Choice B) This neat-o mirror from West Elm for $50

Choice C) This chandelier wall decal (in white) for $28

What do you think? Which option should I choose?

I love the canvas of the Sistamoon pic! My vote is for that! Lots of sentiment and meaning, just like all the other things in your room! =)

The picture!!! That is a gorgeous picture, and not only would it have meaning, but it brings in a lot of color and atmosphere - it'd complement the room best of the three options. Plus, I have just fallen in love with it ;o)

p.s.
That duvet is awesome - might hafta find a Crate & Barrel near me, if they have stuff that fun ...

I love the mirrors! I think it goes best with the theme of the room, but then again your picture has so much meaning.

Love the duvet!

I'd definitely vote for the mirror. I love your whole room, especially the wall color!

I think the mirror works the best with the aesthetic of your room.... but I do love that picture (and the sentiment behind it!).

I vote for the canvas wrap photo!

I love your room and must know what color is on the walls? I'm painting my living room gray, and the shade you have looks perfect!

My vote is for the canvas, although I'm aware that's probably not the most economical option! My second place vote would be for the West Elm piece, which would look AWESOME on your wall. Good luck deciding!! =)

If you lived in CA, I'd say the Chandler- damn earthquakes- but otherwise, I love the mirror. The picture is beyond fantastic, but I think it might be too dark for the room.

Canvas of the Sistahmoon picture! Definitely!

Definitely the Sistamoon picture! Not only would it complement the colors of the room, but also the personality and story behind your other pieces in the room. Also, it has sentimental value. This way you can commemorate this memory of your life and the story behind it.

@E I don't remember the name of the paint color! I suck. It's like my hair dye - every few months I go to the store and try to remember what #Clairol I used last time.

Just because I'm THAT generous I would be willing to give you the oil painting of me and Senior Diamondback that we got from his aunt as a wedding gift....I know how much you have admired it in the past...

just sayin'

I vote for B! The mirrors are really cool and also wouldn't distract too much from your beautiful duvet. That's my vote!

Neat-o mirror from West Elm hands down! What would Nate Berkus hang?

December 2, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterTom

definitely the chandelier

The decal FOR.SURE. The simple, stylized graphic will be a nice contrast to the busy (in a good way) print on the bedding and tie the traditional and the contemporary elements of the room together. IMHO.

p.s. nice room!

Oh! The sistermoon pic, hands down. I find gorgeous artwork so much more soothing in bedrooms, than mirrors. Plus, it's kind of a 'more power to ya' type vibe, and what girl doesn't want that in her bedroom? It's also a gorgeous shot.
